We believe that although nothing is better than building community in person, having an ability to build a safe online community is also necessary in these pivotal times

In today’s world, for many people online communities are even more important than in-person communities

We don’t believe that mainstream social media is a place where you can build a safe online community

We believe that when vulnerable people, especially our kids, are exposed to mainstream social media they can become victims. Negative outcomes are increased such as isolation, loneliness, poor self-image, depression, thoughts of self harm, bullying, radicalization, stunted moral development and leaves them hopeless and helpless.

Mainstream social media operates as a for-profit business with the objective to capture people with sensationalism, glorification of celebrity, and stories that are prone to deception and untruths. Which will likely get worse with deepfakes from generative AI.

Mainstream social media is rife with problematic content that is unavoidable. It is a virtual world fraught with dangerous people and groups exhibiting predatory and hateful behaviour where the harm often spills over into the real world.

We believe that the Christian church has a role in moral development

We believe nurturing and safe environments support healthy communities, accountability, positive self-image, hope, compassion and service
